I'm not afraid to make a few mistakes It's always gonna be ok I'm all about the good vibes, a smile on my face It's alright, waving the worries goodbye I feel better whent I don't think, but sometimes I do I'm not afraid to make a few mistakes I'm sure it's gonna be ok I don't mind the bad vibes, a smile on my face Waving my worries goodbye, I focus on the good vibes I feel better whent I don't think, but sometimes I do Sometimes everything is vain and it makes me feel so blue I try to smile, life goes on anyway Yeah, I put a smile on my face, nothing gonna stand in my way I'm not afraid to make a few mistakes I guess it's gonna be ok I feel better whent I don't think, but sometimes I do I feel shallow, there's a void that I can't get through So I put on my smiling mask with soft blinders on the eyes Yeah I put on my smiling mask with a gag to stop my cries I'm always been a fighter, so I'm gonna do things my way Fuck the talking people, you think you can change me But I can't smile in their face, proving them I'm alright They said writing my problems would help me, where do you find the energy to write What if this smiling mask was drawing me down What if this smiling mask was drawing me down Ooooh I can’t lie anymore I must face the truth Staring back at my reflection I fooled everybody, including myself and I’m trapped, locked (in the) looking glass I can’t lie anymore I must face the truth Staring back at my reflection I’m facing myself in the mirror I can’t lie to myself anymore I can’t lie anymore I must face the truth Staring back at my reflection Maybe there’s a long journey to go I can’t lie anymore I must face the truth Staring back at my reflection I'm gonna rip my skin off What’s beneath the skin What’s beneath the mask I can’t lie anymore I must face the truth Staring back at my reflection Maybe there’s a long journey to go Walk around and around, out of time...

Oh out of time Around and around You're walking Don’t know how long you’ve been here and if you're safe Out of time Around and around They told you to write as if it could save your life They said that you should use the gifts Loneliness gave to you, loneliness gave to you Out of time Around and around You're searching Don’t know how long you’ve been here and if you're safe Out of time Around and around You see babbling waves of self-rightous slaves, you said You know that you're alive They don't even care for this, they don't even care for this Out of time Around and around You're growing Don't know how long it will take to be yourself For the fist time You're beginnin to see the light that's inside you Just enjoy the ride Don't ever stop walking Don't ever stop walking Oh out of time Around and around You're walking Don't know how long it will take to be yourself For the fist time You're not afraid not to be safe at all This might be the gift Loneliness gave to you Loneliness gave to you

about

In our modern societies, we all have to display masks of appearences one day or another, either in order to protect ourselves from affliction or out of hypocrisy. These masks cut us off from the rest of the world, split our personality in two, and divide us. They keep us trapped with lies and denials, nourish our irrational fears, and somehow end up overwhelming our true being, especially when we are convinced of doing well.

These two multifaceted tracks of Arure featuring the young French singer Priscilla Cucciniello, open on the reggae-dub fall-colored "Masquerade". In this track we are invited to reflect on an introspective path leading us to take down the fake smile mask. We are encouraged to take consecutive steps towards our true being, and feel more humility and sincerity, which are the values needed to work on oneself and be at ease with all the facets of one's own personality.

In a second step, it is not only a question of understanding the message, but of applying it: the trip-hop / metal remix of Souche's original track, "Dark Therapy", explains us how to face our internal winters, our demons and our fears by synthesizing good and evil, getting to know oneself better. Then we finally feel more serene and centered, and we are able to stop the suffering that prevents us from moving forward. In order to live a full, well lived life, we have to go through these difficult and demanding stages that are similar for all of us. So let us pass the word about these salutary notions which may be hard to speak about, so that we can feel better about ourselves, learn to rediscover the world every day enriched with new layers of understanding, and finally find more peace in and around us.
